Yes and no. Waxing does hurt most the first time. Mainly because:
We are removing a lot of coarse hair during the first visit – especially if you’ve been shaving.
It is shocking to have all of your hair pulled out by the root.
Your first waxing visit may take the longest time to complete
-However, with repeat visits (including your very next visit), discomfort from waxing is greatly diminished. Also, there will be less hair to remove, therefore less pain.
Your hair should be 1/2 to a 1/4 inch long, or 3-4 weeks of outgrowth after your last shave.
If you come in too soon, hair will not be long enough to wax. Hair should be longer than a grain or rice.
Yes. Home care is a must to ensure the best results. Start your home care the day after receiving your waxing treatment. Please refrain from using the sauna, swimming, excess sun exposure, excessive sweating, and tanning at least for 24hrs after service. We encourage you to discontinue tweezing, shaving, or using any other method of hair removal during your wax life. Exfoliation is key, a few days after your service. You should exfoliate 2-3 times weekly. The professional will inform you of additional at home care tips.
Shaving blunt cuts our hair and thus leaves a stubble and hair starts to regrow within 24hrs. Waxing pulls the hair out by the root so when it regrows, it is very fine at the tip. With waxing, new hair growth is soft.
It takes about 1-2 weeks for hair to start growing again. With continued waxing, hair grows slower and is some places hair does not grow again.
Most people get waxed every 3-4 weeks with great success. Please keep in mind that It is important to have at least 2.5 weeks of growth before your initial waxing, to have maximum hair removal.
Most guests door experience irritation. However, it is not uncommon to have a slight reaction, especially for first time guests. If you have a tendency towards ingrown hairs and irritation from shaving, you are likely to have a slight reaction from waxing, although dramatically decreased. To minimize skin reactions, you MUST use proper home care and get waxed on a regular schedule. Be sure to exfoliate your skin and moisturize. This will help set you up for waxing success!
When done properly and by a professional, waxing is safe. We practice smart, clean waxing and take universal precautions. Your safety is our top concern. We use gloves, disposable sticks, clean & prep the skin prior to hair removal, disinfect our tools and more.
Your skin will defiantly be smoother after your first wax, however stubborn hair has to be ‘trained’. You may not get the best wax until after your 3rd service. This is due to the 3 stages of hair growth. By “best wax” we mean: No hair left behind, ultimate smoothness, slow hair regrowth and little skin irritation.
We suggest wearing loose clothing. The skin is usually sensitive post waxing service. Not every guest feels discomfort after waxing.
We take pride in using the best and sensitive skin wax! We offer hard wax services.
Yes, you are able to get waxed while pregnant.
Prior to your initial service, you will complete an intake consult form. Please advise your esthetician of any medical or skin conditions and also if you are taking any medications prescribed by a doctor such as Retin-A or Accutane. Users of Retin-A, Renova, Differin or Accutane are advised not to use waxing on the face as these medications tend to weaken the skin. Because of this, tearing of the skin may occur when the wax is removed.
Yes. Just insert a tampon and you’re good to go.
